Travel Tech Welcomes Marriott to the Short-Term Rental Industry
Arlington, VA – The Travel Technology Association (Travel Tech), the trade association for the online travel industry, including short-term rental innovators Airbnb, HomeAway and Booking.com, released the following statement regarding Marriott’s announcement that they are formally entering the short term rental marketplace.
"It’s clear that Marriott has recognized the consumer demand for short term rental accommodations. They join other major hotel chains already offering private home accommodations such Choice, Wyndham, Accor and others.
“Given that Marriott is a leading voice at the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA), which has spent millions trying to convince lawmakers and regulators to ban or limit short term rentals to stifle competition and limit consumer choice, we can’t wait for Marriott to join our fight to ensure that short term rentals remain a viable option for travelers in communities across America.
“The anti-short term rental agenda put forth by AHLA is a false narrative. Even their own members know it. We welcome Marriott to the short-term rental industry and hope that they can use their dominance at AHLA to change its tune when it comes to short term rental accommodations. ”
