Travel Tech Joins Coalition Encouraging More Foreign Travel to U.S.

Travel Tech on February 08, 2018

Travel Tech is proud to join with the U.S. Travel Association and a dozen other national associations representing a broad spectrum of American industries to address – and reverse – the recent decline in international visitors to the United States.  The Visit U.S. Coalition, launched in January 2018, seeks to partner with Congress and the Trump Administration to highlight the president’s powerful message that the U.S. is indeed open for business.  But while global travel volume has dramatically increased, the American share of that growing pie has dipped for the first time in a decade.  For a nation that thrives and depends on a robust travel and tourism industry, this trend cannot be permitted to continue.  It is imperative that American businesses, not just in the travel and tourism industry, stand united in welcoming travelers from every corner of the globe with open arms.

Travel Tech members are the world’s leaders in online travel, and are often the first place would-be travelers visit to catch a glimpse of all that the United States has to offer and to be inspired to visit for the very first time.  Where else can someone in a country on the opposite side of the world see all his or her options in one place but on an online travel website or app?  Whether it’s as simple as choosing the best hotel or short-term rental in which to stay, or as crucial as choosing in what region of the country to start exploring, Travel Tech members are there to help international travelers make the best choices for every aspect of their visit to the U.S.

Comprised of global distribution systems (GDSs), which provide the technological backbone for the distribution of airline services to consumers; online travel agencies; metasearch and short-term rental platforms; our member companies are on the front lines of travel and tourism and recognize the great benefit that affordable travel brings to consumers, suppliers, and the travel and tourism economy.  Travel Tech is proud to join the Visit U.S. Coalition and will continue to support the efforts of Congress and the White House to make the United States the most visited country in the world.
